The Bog Beans are in flower, but the Marsh Marigolds are now over. This May we have supplemented the original planting with more loosestrife, plus some buttercup-like greater spearwort.
Imagine our delight when, as we were planting, we saw a newly emerged Four Spotted Chaser dragonfly drying its wings, resting on an iris stem. This amazing creature had spent two years as a nymph at the bottom of the pond.
We are looking forward to seeing what else emerges, and last year we observed many dragonflies and damselflies laying eggs.
